Hello/Intro PrimaryReturn to index of stories... |
Welcome to NH Outlook. We're coming to you from the NH Political Library in Concord - which contains the historical record of the state's first in the nation primary and provides insight into the primary election campaign itself. Hello, I'm Beth Carroll. The political library houses half-a century of NH's presidential primary history. It's one of our many stops as NH Outlook heads out of the studio and into your hometown. New Hampshire has long been known for its first in the Nation Primary but that status is under assault. The political calender could change as we head into the next presidential election season. We'll talk about that with the President of the Political Library in a moment. But first, a look back at some of the sights and sounds from the more than 50 years of the New Hampshire primary. |

This summer, the Democratic National Committee added Nevada and South Carolina to the early presidential nominating process for 2008. Michael Chaney is President of the New Hampshire Political Library. Q Could this spell the demise of retail politics here in the Granite State? Q Will the change in the calender REDUCE influence of NH's primary? Q Eeven with DNC discussing changes -- presidential hopefuls have continued to come to NH. WHY? Q Long argued that NH is not representative of the nation with 3rd lowest percentage of Minority residents. Best Arguement for NH staying FIRST?
